The City of Harahan is proud to announce that the newly renovated Park of Heroes Inclusive Playground is officially open to the public! On Thursday, October 15, we celebrated this exciting milestone with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking the completion of a project that will create lasting memories and bring our community together for years to come.

The story behind the Park of Heroes Inclusive Playground began with a simple but meaningful goal: to create a place where children and families of all abilities could come together, enjoy the outdoors, and share in the joy of play. Mrs. Corvers helped set this vision in motion, laying the foundation for what would eventually become a reality for the Harahan community. With initial seed funding from Walmart, the No Limit Playground initiative marked an important first step toward making this dream possible.

Bringing this idea to life took the dedication of many individuals and organizations over the years. Mayor Tim Baudier, Melissa Taylor, and Bridget Henderson helped launch the early efforts, establishing the groundwork for the project’s future. The Harahan Athletic Association then continued to advance the initiative, with Christie Jackson, Tina Hunter, and Councilman Eric Chatelain playing key roles in moving the effort forward.

As the project entered its final stages, Councilman Jason Asbill worked alongside Mayor Baudier, State Representative John Ilg, and Senator Kirk Talbot to help bring this project to the finish line.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the representatives from the City of Harahan, Pelican Playgrounds, state and local government agencies, community organizations, and community members who joined us to celebrate this special occasion. Your presence and support made this milestone even more meaningful.

This playground represents years of planning, dedication, and collaboration, and we are thrilled to see that vision become a reality. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Mayor Tim Baudier, Councilman Jason Asbill, and Councilman Eric Chatelain for helping spearhead this project, as well as to the Harahan City Council for its continued support throughout the process.

A special thank-you also goes to the City of Harahan Maintenance Department, Pelican Playgrounds, Lappset Group, Playworld, and all the individuals and organizations who helped bring this vision to life. Your hard work and commitment have created a beautiful, accessible, and inclusive space where children and families of all abilities can play, explore, connect, and feel a sense of belonging.

The Park of Heroes Inclusive Playground is more than a new recreational space; it is an investment in our community and a reflection of our commitment to creating opportunities for everyone to enjoy and experience the joy of play. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make this project possible and proud to offer Harahan a space that will serve our residents and families for generations to come.

We invite everyone to come out, explore the new playground, and make wonderful memories at the Park of Heroes! We look forward to seeing our community enjoy this exciting new addition to Harahan.
