The City of Harahan has partnered with Pelican Playgrounds to construct a brand new inclusive playground at Harahan's very own Royland Playground. This project is made possible by generous donations from many of the recreation industry's leading manufacturers, as well as the effort and care provided by all parties throughout this process. The American Society of
Landscape Architects (ASLA) held a national conference in New Orleans from October 10-13 to exhibit their new equipment. Rather than ship the equipment back home, it was donated or sold to the City of Harahan so we can install and showcase the new equipment in our city!
New Playground equipment includes:
An 8-foot-wide Mighty Descent slide with an attached PlayCubes climbing tower donated by Playworld
A PlayTown playhouse for children ages 2-5 donated by Playworld
An interactive Sona Dance and Play Arch donated by Lappset USA
A Songbird wooden play house donated by Earthscape
Brand new playground turf, donated by ForeverLawn Gulf South
A wheelchair-accessible Spin Station manufactured by Independence Design Group donated by UltiPlay Parks & Playgrounds
A Double Leg Press fitness station made by ExoFit, donated by Pelican Playgrounds
This playground is located at 800 Randolph Ave and is expected to be publicly available in late October. We at the City of Harahan want to give thanks to the donations provided to the city and the overwhelming generosity granted to us throughout this process, as this project would not have been made possible without our community and partners. A special thanks to the City of Harahan staff, led by Councilman Jason Asbill, the Pelican Playground team led by President Lauren Knight, and the members of our community for helping plan and manage this project with the City of Harahan. We're excited to provide our community with updated and inclusive playground equipment to give Royland Playground a long overdue upgrade. Our hope for this project is to provide Harahan with a community asset that will bring value to our city for years to come!
